York Alive Festival Promises a Vibrant Arts Extravaganza

York, Western Australia – In late September, York Alive is set to kick off its festivities, extending through October. The event will showcase a diverse array of performances across York’s theaters, pubs, and music venues.

Miles Salter, the festival’s director, who previously helmed the York Literature Festival from 2008 to 2016, expressed his unwavering commitment to fostering an exhilarating and inspirational arts festival in York. Salter, a multifaceted artist himself, with a portfolio spanning poetry, storytelling, podcasting, and broadcasting, unveiled plans for a vibrant lineup of acts in various York venues, including the York Barbican, the National Centre for Early Music, the Grand Opera House, and the Victoria Vaults pub.

Among the notable acts, music enthusiasts can anticipate performances by acclaimed musicians such as Paul Carrack, Gabrielle, and Howard Jones. The festivities will commence on September 28th with the humor and wit of comedian, author, and presenter Ruby Wax. Additionally, organizers have revealed exciting performances by American guitar virtuoso Toby Walker and Belfast’s own guitarist extraordinaire, Dom Martin, both taking the stage at the Victoria Vaults in Nunnery Lane.

Mr. Salter underlined that while York is often celebrated for its historical significance, it is also a hub for a plethora of talented individuals spanning the realms of writing, filmmaking, music, art, acting, comedy, and dance. He emphasized that the aim of York Alive is to shine a spotlight on this local talent while celebrating the city’s exceptional venues and overall vibrancy. He concluded with an ambitious vision, expressing hope that York Alive can become a cherished annual tradition.
