Washington/Tehran – Iran is considering a new peace proposal from the United States that Donald Trump claims could end the ongoing conflict and reopen the strategically important Strait of Hormuz.
According to reports, the proposed agreement includes a brief memorandum outlining steps to stop the war, along with a framework for future negotiations over Iran’s nuclear program. US officials reportedly believe the two sides are moving closer to an agreement.
Mr Trump stated that the US wants Iran to transfer its highly enriched uranium and stop operating underground nuclear facilities. He warned that military action could intensify if Iran rejected the terms, saying current operations would end only if an agreement was reached.
However, Iranian officials have questioned the likelihood of a breakthrough. Ebrahim Rezaei dismissed reports of progress, describing the proposal as an American “wish list” rather than a final agreement. He argued that the US would not achieve through conflict what it failed to secure through direct negotiations.
Pakistan is reportedly acting as a mediator in the discussions, with sources suggesting efforts to finalise a deal are continuing despite ongoing tensions.
